Tenth Avenue North Announce New Album “Followers” For Oct. 14

July 9, 2016

Tenth Avenue North (Reunion Records) revealed the new album name and cover via social media last night for their fifth studio album. The new project titled Followers will release this fall on October 14. The pre-order for the album is available today with the instant downloads of the songs “Afraid” and the current radio single “What You Want.” Click here to pre-order the album digitally and here for pre-order packages.

“This album is about following Jesus wherever He calls us,” explains frontman Mike Donehey. “Everyone says let’s follow Jesus – let’s do all these extravagant things but what we’re saying is not to follow Jesus in what we do but to follow Jesus in the WHY we do it.”

With numerous No. 1 radio singles, multiple Dove Awards including New Artist of the Year and touring accolades that include Casting Crowns, MercyMe and Chris Tomlin, it would be easy for Tenth Avenue North to get caught up in the success of being an artist. However, since their last album Cathedrals (2014), the group has reached an epiphany that puts all of those stats to the side.

“Over the last year as we started working on this new album, it became clear that most of the themes of these songs point to where we are in our lives right now eight years after our label debut,” states Donehey. “We have settled into that maybe God isn’t as interested in the success of our career as He is about the posture of our hearts and what would it look like if we lived every day of our lives the way God commanded. One of the most repeated commands in the Bible is ‘Do not be afraid,’ and the one thing we know is that God does not want us to follow Him in fear.”

“It’s a pleasure to work with a band who can innovate musically while continuing to deliver a message that’s so in tune with what’s happening in the world today,” shares Terry Hemmings, Provident Music Group President and CEO. “Tenth Avenue North has, once again, delivered a record that speaks truth straight to the heart of the listener.”

After finishing out the summer with festival tour dates, Tenth Avenue North will head out on their “What You Want” tour in October. Tour dates listed below.

ABOUT TENTH AVENUE NORTH: Tenth Avenue North (Reunion Records) made their national debut in 2008 with Over and Underneath, which spawned the hits “Love is Here,” “By Your Side” and “Hold My Heart.” Tenth Avenue North won the Gospel Music Association Dove Award in 2009 for New Artist of the Year and in 2010 “By Your Side” was named Song of the Year. The band gained further momentum with 2010’s The Light Meets the Dark and The Struggle in 2012, which continued to populate radio and the church with such memorable songs as “Healing Begins,” “You Are More,” “Losing” and “Worn.” In November 2014, the band released their fourth studio project, Cathedrals, with the first radio single “No Man Is An Island.” L to R: Jeff Owen, Brendon Shirley, Mike Donehey, Ruben Juarez, Jason Jamison

I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
