TBN and Big Idea Content Group Partner to Produce All-New “VeggieTales” Episodes

April 6, 2019

TBN and Big Idea Content Group announced at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, they will partner to produce all new and original episodes of VeggieTales, the leading children’s faith-based property. Coming to TBN Fall 2019, each episode will remain true to the classic VeggieTales brand to deliver clever storytelling, biblically-based lessons, and memorable songs. Big Idea Content Group is part of UPHE Content Group, a repertoire center of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The first new VeggieTales episode will be a Christmas special that will premiere during the holiday season on TBN and distributed on DVD and Digital download by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. In the new Christmas special Bob and Larry and the entire VeggieTales crew bring a fresh and new story of the promise of Christmas: God With Us. Other new episodes will explore beloved Bible stories and lessons, including a nine-episode series on the fruits of the Spirit, as well as new adventures starring beloved super-hero characters, LarryBoy and the League of Incredible Vegetables. VeggieTales is distinguished as the most successful faith-based children’s franchise of all time.

Original creators, Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki, will reprise their respective roles as the voices of “Bob the Tomato,” and “Larry the Cucumber.” Vischer and Nawrocki will also join the creative team led by showrunner Todd Waterman (Mulan, Transformers Prime). The episodic series will provide VeggieTales content through 2021.

Big Idea Content Group and TBN are working together to launch the new episodes on the TBN broadcast channel and all other media platforms. Together with their teams, they will develop a comprehensive and extensive marketing plan to support domestic and international distribution.

“TBN is excited to partner with Big Idea Content Group to bring new life to a much-loved children’s brand,” said Tom Newman, Head of Development and Production, TBN. “These all new episodes will re-introduce VeggieTales to existing fans and remind new ones the importance of presenting biblical values through high-quality children’s entertainment.”

TBN has led the way in expanding the impact of faith-based television worldwide through the creation of innovative content designed to reach every viewer demographic with the life-changing message of hope and grace. As part of their expansion, TBN will leverage the new VeggieTales episodes across their multiple platforms.

I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
