Switchfoot Unveils Full Track List for Anticipated New Album, “Forever Now,” Out June 26

Just a few weeks out from the release of their forthcoming album Forever Now, due June 26, GRAMMY-winning rock band Switchfoot releases the full track list to the highly anticipated record. All 13 tracks were written by the band’s lead vocalist Jon Foreman, with co-writes with bassist Tim Foreman on seven songs and one track with longtime collaborator and accomplished producer Mike Elizondo.

“As musicians, when we are writing, we never try to write a ‘Switchfoot song,’” claimed the band. “Our tendency is to run the other way because we never want to say the same thing twice. We are always trying new sounds, new ideas. That is what can be really helpful as a band, a brotherhood, to say, ‘no this is uniquely you, and you should say that instead of running away from it.’”

Born from an intense and highly emotional period of songwriting, musical discovery and keen cultural observation, Forever Now is the most thematic and narrative-driven album of Switchfoot’s already storied career. The band’s 14th full-length studio LP centers on the emotional roller coaster of a person’s final day on Earth. Recorded largely in part at Elizondo’s Phantom Studios on the outskirts of Nashville, the songs that comprise Forever Now were created during songwriting sessions throughout the past year. “With songs, the good ones at least, you’re just receiving and you’re not actually crafting,” Jon Foreman explains. “You’re putting your cup out in the rain and hoping that you get something that feels nourishing. Halfway through a record, you start to look for meaning. I think there’s a consistency here. That’s when it gets really fun. These songs all have this in common.”

The band first set the tone for the guitar-driven record with the album’s lead track,“Wake Up, Mr. Crow,”released in March. An alarm clock of a song, the track showcases a juxtaposition of major versus minor chords – a musically unsettling parallel of our “strange, strange times.” The band then followed with their new single “Absolution,” which serves as a cry of the postmodern crisis and impacts Alternative radio today (6/2).

“There’s a whole other journey these songs will go on,” Tim Foreman says, “and we’re just in the discovery part of that. Let’s see where these songs take us.”

The new project adds to their extensive and widely known discography across 13 studio albums, with over 10 million copies sold worldwide. In 2023, the award-winning band celebrated the 20th anniversary of their triple-Platinum album The Beautiful Letdown with a re-recording of the full record as well as a deluxe edition featuring collaborations from artists like Tyler Joseph (Twenty One Pilots), Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic), Jon Bellion, Jonas Brothers and more.

The beloved band will take the new album and their captivating live show to fans across the country this fall on their headlining Forever Now Tour with special guest Anberlin.
