Rhett Walker Signs with BEC Recordings

July 22, 2023

BEC Recordings is thrilled to announce GRAMMY®- nominated artist and songwriter Rhett Walker has joined their label family. Additionally, Walker’s first single with BEC, titled “Man on the Middle Cross,” is out today and available on all digital platforms. Listen HERE.

“I‘m incredibly excited for the opportunity to partner with Rhett Walker and his team,” shares Brandon Ebel, founder, president, and CEO of BEC Recordings/Tooth & Nail Records. “He’s a phenomenal artist and songwriter, and we can’t wait to see what doors God opens next for him.”

Walker adds, “It has been great to join the BEC Recordings team and immediately press the gas on creativity. I’m excited for the future as I look ahead at the road we’re paving.”

Walker, who co-wrote the song with Matthew West, AJ Pruis, and Matt Jenkins, was able to share his new song live this past Wednesday when he appeared at the Grand Ole Opry, making it his 13th career performance on the legendary stage in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I came across a clip of Alistair Begg’s sermon on social media, and he was speaking about the two men on both sides of Jesus on the cross,” Walker says about his new song. “The man on the right ends up in heaven. The angels in heaven, stunned, are asking, ‘How are you here? You weren’t a follower of Jesus. You didn’t live a life worth gaining heaven.’ And the man said, ‘I don’t know how I’m here or where I am, but the man on the middle cross said I could be here.'”

Walker continues, “This message was such a reminder that grace and mercy have nothing to do with us. There’s nothing we could do to earn it and nothing we could do to deserve it. It is only and has always only been about Jesus, who He is, what He did, and the grace that He continues to pour out, which is why I thank God for the man on the middle cross.”

Beginning in October, Walker will join the Mac Powell & Friends Tour where he’ll get to share “Man on the Middle Cross” along with many of his previous hits, taking the stage with Powell, Jordan St. Cyr, and Brandon Heath. Be sure to visit his tour page to find a city near you.

About Rhett Walker: In his career, Rhett Walker has released multiple albums and received a GRAMMY nomination for his very first single “When Mercy Found Me.” He is also a three-time GMA Dove Awards nominee (New Artist of the Year, Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year, and Rock/Contemporary Song of the Year).

His newest song to release is “Man On The Middle Cross” with his new label home, Seattle-based BEC Recordings (Tasha Layton, Jordan St. Cyr, Cory Asbury, among others). Along with “When Mercy Found Me,” other previous hits include “All Joy No Stress,” No. 2 single “Gospel Song,” and “Believer,” which spent 23 weeks in the top ten at radio.

Rhett Walker has toured some of the biggest arenas to intimate theaters all across the country and has appeared multiple times on the Grand Ole Opry. He is known for pushing the envelope and writing songs that come from a life lived and lessons learned, and his songs ring out through small-town USA as anthems about family, faith, and making the most of every day you get.

I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
