Jesusfreakhideout.com Celebrates 25 Years with Music Retrospective and New 62-Song Free Sampler!

August 14, 2021

Today, Friday, August 13th marks the 25th year online for Christian music media pioneers JesusFreakHideout.com. To celebrate, the long-running CCM site that debuted back in 1996 is continuing their recent tradition of releasing a brand new, FREE indie music sampler to celebrate: Songs We’ve Been Trying To Tell You About (And Others We Haven’t), Volume Ten.

Along with the sampler, the JFH staff has been writing retrospective blogs highlighting albums that released 25 years ago, their favorite 25 songs from some of their favorite bands, and a unique Top 25 album list that selects one standout album each year from 1996 all the way to 2020. You can check out “JFH 25: Top 25 Albums From 1996 to 2020” by visiting the JFH Features section.

“25 years… it’s crazy to think how far God’s brought this site since its humble beginnings,” says founder John DiBiase. “It’s been a long journey with all kinds of roadblocks and ups and downs, but we’re super grateful to still be here all these years later. It’s been a challenging but exciting experience for myself and the amazing JFH team. I definitely want to thank them, as well as anyone who has been supporting JFH by visiting and connecting with us. We appreciate you!”

“I feel like this year was especially fun to put this compilation together. Scott Fryberger and I tag-teamed a lot this year, digging into the indie scene for some fresh – and familiar – names in the industry,” continues DiBiase. “I think this is one of the more diverse compilations we’ve put together so far, too. There’s certainly something for everyone on Volume Ten!”

Volume Ten is the fifth straight Songs We’ve Been Trying To Tell You About compilation to feature original cover artwork hand-drawn by JFH’s own John DiBiase. “I’ve loved designing mixtape covers ever since I discovered Christian music, so it’s become a really fun challenge to try to come up with something unique for each Songs compilation, and represent one of my favorite fandoms. And this year, I couldn’t help but pay my respects to my favorite space smuggler. Ha!” Prints of the original freehand-drawn artwork are available for purchase in DiBiase’s online Etsy art shop, where sales also help support JFH.

I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
