Hillsong Adds Spring and Summer Empires Tour Dates

March 5, 2016

Australian-based worship group Hillsong UNITED is adding a string of spring and summer dates to their North American EMPIRES Tour. The new shows will feature special guest Lauren Daigle. Following a February capacity-crowd tour run, the second leg of cities kicks off in Baltimore on April 28 with stops across the country throughout April, May and July. Tickets for Empires Tour April and May dates are on sale now, and tickets for Empires Tour July dates go on sale Friday, April 8, 2016.

“We haven’t really done our own thing in the USA since WelcomeZion 2013, so we are super excited to be bringing the EMPIRES tour to the states,” said Joel Houston of Hillsong UNITED. “We write songs to be sung with people – they are always for the people – so when we get to sing these songs with people on the road, it is the purpose of why we do what we do! We can’t wait to worship with people singing all the new EMPIRES songs as well as everyone’s favorites.”

Hillsong UNITED’s Empires Tour is making stops in arenas transforming the concert venues into nights of worship and music during their spring and summer trek across the United States and into Canada.

“Our hope always has been that people bring someone who doesn’t know Jesus and who might not feel comfortable in a church, but would be okay with going to an arena,” said Taya Smith of Hillsong UNITED. “We are called to be invitational with the love, hope, mercy and grace that we have encountered ourselves.”

The Australian-based UNITED has a long history of sold-out shows in the United States. During their 2013 “WELCOMEZION” Tour, they surpassed 15,000 in attendance at the famed Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and brought their tour to a sold-out audience at Red Rocks in Denver. The tour was one of the top attended Christian tours of 2013 with nearly 80,000 people in attendance. The touring entity of UNITED has made a huge wave in the States as they became the first Christian artist to ever sell out Los Angeles’ Staples Center. In addition to the Staples Center, UNITED has also sold out major venues in Seattle (ShoWare Center), New York (Hammerstein Ballroom), Atlanta (Gwinnett Center), Miami (BankUnited Center), Dallas (Music Hall) and two back-to-back sold out events in Boston (Orpheum Theatre). UNITED also holds the record for largest attendance ever in the Sears Centre Arena (Chicago, IL), outdrawing concerts there by such legendary performers as Billy Joel, Elton John and the Eagles. Since 2006, UNITED has toured six continents and 42 nations.

I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
