Girder To Release Grammatrain Albums to Vinyl

April 29, 2025

Girder Records is proud to announce the long-awaited vinyl reissues of Lonely House (1995) and Flying (1997)—the two most iconic releases from Seattle grunge pioneers Grammatrain. Available for the first time ever on vinyl, these albums arrive fully remastered and pressed on collectible colored vinyl: Lonely House on Coke Bottle Clear and Flying on Dusk Colored Wax.

Pre-Orders Begin Tuesday, April 30 at 7PM EST at GirderMusic.com

Born of Pain. Fueled by Faith. Forged in Seattle.

Grammatrain was more than just another band from the ‘90s grunge scene. Emerging from the same fertile Seattle soil that birthed Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam, Grammatrain carved their own path with a blend of distorted emotion, spiritual grit, and raw authenticity. Their music was not just heard—it was felt.

Fronted by Pete Stewart and backed by brothers Paul and Dalton Roraback, the band brought deep introspection to the often bleak landscape of hard rock. Their songs were spiritual battle cries—bold, broken, and brutally honest.

A Legacy That Started With BLOODGOOD

The roots of Grammatrain dig deep into Christian rock history. Drummer Paul Roraback—formerly of BLOODGOOD—was introduced to the scene through a Seattle Bible study led by none other than Michael Bloodgood himself. That raw vulnerability and real-life struggle shaped Grammatrain’s sound: less polished praise, more midnight lament.

“Christians wouldn’t deal with me because I was still doing drugs,” Roraback recalled. “And my stoner friends didn’t want anything to do with me because I had become a Christian.”

That tension became their truth—and their truth became music.

“Paul was just the sweetest guy… and he looked like a rockstar. His drumming was massive, powerful. When Paul was in BLOODGOOD, we were super tight.”
— Les Carlsen, BLOODGOOD

THE ALBUMS

Lonely House (30th Anniversary Edition)
Released in 1995 at the height of the grunge era, Lonely House was a raw, soul-baring debut produced by Aaron Sprinkle (Poor Old Lu). With tracks like “Execution,” “Believe,” and “Jerky Love Song,” it pulled no punches—offering melodic grit with spiritual weight. The album struck a powerful chord with Christian and mainstream rock fans alike, becoming a cult classic and defining a new kind of heavy, faith-fueled music.

“Like crusty diamonds unearthed from the mountainous cavern known as the ’90s… Grammatrain was the real deal.”
— Doug Van Pelt, HM Magazine

Tracklist Includes:
Execution · Famine · Sick · Believe · Alone · Desire · Picture Pain · Apathy · Lonely House · and more.

Flying (1997)
If Lonely House was a sonic scream, Flying was the slow burn that followed. Darker, deeper, and more expansive, Flying proved Grammatrain’s staying power. The album explored more progressive and psychedelic influences while keeping one foot grounded in grunge.

From the aggressive punch of “This Is” to the introspective “Justified,” Flying captured the band at their most creative and confident.

Tracklist Includes:
This Is · Rockstar · Spider · Fly · Justified · Masquerade · Peace · Shooting Star · and more—including a hidden track.

READY FOR A NEW GENERATION

Both albums have been fully remastered for vinyl and will feature upgraded packaging worthy of their legacy. These are not just nostalgia reissues—they are timeless records, louder and more honest than ever before.

Meet the Host

Kurt Wallace
I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
