American Idol Alum, David Francisco, Launches “LIONHEARTS” Video Series

March 30, 2019

DAVID FRANCISCO – whose story inspired MILLIONS on the hit show, American Idol – has launched an inspirational video series called, LIONHEARTS: 30 Stories in 30 Days. The video series will support the release of his single, “LIONHEART,” to be released on April 26, 2019 just one day prior to the anniversary of his accident, April 27, 2019.

David moved to Nashville, TN in 2016 to pursue his dreams of music. Three weeks after his move, on April 26, 2016, his world was shattered. David was t-boned by a distracted driver who ran a red light while on his bicycle. The impact launched his body toward the windshield of the driver and his face smacked into the windshield glass. His back snapped, his spinal cord was severely damaged and his left forearm was torn open.

David was paralyzed. The next year consisted of intense, full-time physical therapy and rehabilitation – focusing all his efforts on gaining any possible mobility.

He returned to Nashville in 2017, enrolling in and graduating from Blackbird Academy Professional Audio School. Later in 2017, David auditioned for American Idol. His story moved MILLIONS to tears – including judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Byan – with his determination, passion, forgiving spirit and kindness.

The video has been viewed more than 49 MILLION times to date.

David hopes the LIONHEARTS video series will inspire and encourage others in the same way he was encouraged during his trial. “One of the things that really helped me to cope and find strength to move on, was to see others stories of survival,” says Francisco. “Seeing others thrive in spite of what happened to them, gave me hope that I could move on as well. That’s what I hope this video series, LIONHEARTS: 30 Stories in 30 Days, does for others.

During the video series, David interviews others whose stories that have impacted and inspired him, using his platform to share hope with the world. A new story will be released every single day for 30 days, leading to the release of his new single, “LIONHEART,” on April 26, 2019.

I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
