Husband-and-wife worship leaders and recording artists Alex & Rachel Inman have released their new rendition of the classic hymn “How Great Thou Art,” the second single from a forthcoming hymns EP slated for release later this year.
The couple’s new recording takes the familiar hymn in a fresh musical direction, featuring a reharmonized arrangement that brings unexpected harmonic movement to the familiar melody while allowing the original lyrics to remain at the center.
“We love the old hymns,” says Alex Inman. “The fact that churches all over the world still sing these hundred-year-old songs kind of proves the point that they are some of the best songs we have. These songs have lasted for generations because they paired the truth of the Gospel of Jesus with a melody people like to sing… We just wanted to create our favorite versions of them.”
That idea is at the heart of the forthcoming EP, which will feature several classic hymns presented through Alex and Rachel’s musical style. Rather than rewriting the songs themselves, the couple’s goal is to approach these familiar lyrics and melodies with truly unique arrangements that invite listeners to hear these songs as if they were hearing them for the first time.
“How Great Thou Art” follows the couple’s July release of “It Is Well With My Soul,” marking their return to releasing music together after a three-year break.
Both Alex and Rachel have spent more than 10 years serving the local church through worship ministry, and their recorded music flows out of that same calling. After a three-year break from releasing music, they share a renewed excitement for serving, encouraging, and equipping the greater Church.
The forthcoming hymns EP is expected later in 2026, with additional releases planned ahead of the full project.
