Maverick City Music x Kirk Franklin’s “Bless Me” Music Video Releases

June 5, 2022

Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin’s official music video for their new single “Bless Me,” is out now. Serving as the latest offering from their forthcoming album, ‘Kingdom Book 1’ (out 6.17), the clip opens with the details of how the inspiring project came to be, before giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at its recording process — which took place at the Everglades Correctional Institution in Miami, FL, among 1,300 inmates and marked one of the largest prison events in U.S. history.

“Bless Me” is an infectious celebration of the bounties of life as they already are — taking the time to recognize the blessings already bestowed upon you rather than those you lack. As countless, unyielding voices refrain, in stacks of traditional gospel harmonies, “we’ve got everything we need.”

Drum lines, snare rolls, and energetic horns call to mind the image of a football field or a pep rally, drawing a connection between these two spaces of celebration and powerful community. Rapid-fire hi-hat rolls and 808s frame the song with an unmistakably modern punch. More than anything, “Bless Me” evokes the electric, invincible feeling of being surrounded by your people and strengthened by their love.

This year is poised to be the biggest yet for the young pioneers of Maverick City Music. The group just won a GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album and completed a historic televised performance on the show. Nominated across four categories at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, with triple nods in one category, and receiving three 2022 K-Love Awards nominations earlier this week, the group will take the music and the movement behind ‘Kingdom Book 1’ on the road this summer with their headline ‘Kingdom Tour’ alongside Franklin.

The tour kicked off to a SOLD OUT FTX Arena on June 1 in Miami, and the extensive, 37-date trek hits arenas across the nation through the end of July. Fans can purchase tickets to the nearly sold-out tour HERE.

I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
