1K Phew Pays Respect to “Aretha” Franklin with New Single

April 29, 2025

1K Phew pays homage to the “Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin, with his latest release. Entitled “Aretha,” the Atlanta native commands respect over a hard-hitting trap instrumental. The song marks his second single of the year, following March’s gospel rap anthem “All I Need” – Listen HERE via Reach Records.

“These days, there’s a real lack of respect. Sometimes you gotta spell it out for people — literally,” 1K Phew says. “That’s what I did with ‘Aretha.’ I want people to understand that you gotta give respect to get it. It’s bigger than a song — it’s a message we all need right now.”

Shifting between rapid-fire verses and a melodic hook, 1K Phew has crafted an undeniable banger that’s poised for heavy rotation. Over a speaker-rattling beat brimming with his no-holds-barred style, he reels the listener in, delivering a profound perspective on the lack of respect in today’s society.

The Dove Award winner processes life in real-time through his artistry. Following the buzz around his first release of the year, “All I Need,” 1K Phew started gaining traction on TikTok and Instagram with his “Atlanta version” Bible story skits – culminating in a major CCM Magazine feature spotlighting his content and upcoming music.

This all builds on the momentum of 1K Phew’s 2024 album, Pray For Atlanta, with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Zaytoven. Living by the mantra “Gospel rap is back,” his faith-based rhymes have seen him win over audiences worldwide and build relationships with people from all walks of life.

With a rapidly growing fanbase and an impressive collection of tracks in the pocket, 1K Phew is primed for a major breakthrough this year. Stay tuned for much more from the Reach Records signee in the coming months, and listen to his latest single “Aretha” available now on all digital streaming platforms.

Critical Praise:

“Atlanta-based artist 1K Phew has emerged as a powerful voice in Christian hip-hop”

– The Hype Magazine

“Phew’s newest single, ‘All I Need,’ delivers vibes that hit harder than Atlanta traffic on a Friday night. It’s a great reminder that amidst life’s chaos, God is truly all we need.” – CCM Magazine

I think I was born with a pair of headphones attached to my head!

I have always loved radio and was introduced to Contemporary Christian Music when I was a lowly freshman in high school, way back in 1977! "Praise the Lord" by The Imperials, "Your Love Broke Through" by Keith Green and others were the first songs I heard and played over and over again!
